Ever since it was founded in 1807 by Mr. John Bibby, Bibby Line has always been located in Liverpool and still has its head office there. It has successfully survived the many ups and downs of 19th and 20th Centuries’ shipping to lay claim to being one of the world’s oldest shipping companies still in private ownership. Sir Michael Bibby now heads the Bibby Line Group.

A family run and independent business since day one, Bibby Line Group now services a diversity of markets and currently comprises subsidiaries involved in Marine, Logistics and Financial Services activities; the operations are worldwide.

Throughout this history, a key aspect of the Group's philosophy towards its business has been the maintenance of its reputation for high quality, integrity and safety of operations. Bibby Line has been awarded three times the Queen’s Award for Export Achievement and in 2001, the Queen’s Award for Enterprise. In 2003 Bibby Line Group received a Corporate Honorary Fellowship from Liverpool’s John Moores University in recognition of outstanding contributions over almost 200 years to the history and economic development of Liverpool. In 2007, Bibby Line will celebrate its 200th birthday.
