Group Liverpool, who provide crew management solutions to the marine industry, are proud to announce the opening of the “Sir Derek Bibby DP Centre”, India’s’ first dynamic positioning training facility. The opening of this training centre represents a major step forward for Asia’s fast growing offshore industry.
The Sir Derek Bibby DP Centre, located within the St. Xavier’s Technical Institute in Mumbai, is equipped with Alstom ‘A’ Series system which provide a wide range of Offshore Support Vessel simulations.
The Nautical Institute has assessed Sir Derek Bibby DP Centre and given their full accreditation for both its induction and simulator programmes.
Equipped with Alstom ‘A’
Series DP system this marks only the first
step in our development a comprehensive
range of offshore training courses.
Upon
completion of training, the Candidate
will be able to:

Demonstrate the principle of DP System. |
| 2. |
Set up and operate DP & DP related Equipments. |
| 3. |
Recognise the various alarms and warnings related to various sub systems |

i.e. Power Plant, Position reference, Communications & so on. |
| 4. |
Relate to D.P. operations, the limited conditions presented by wind, seas, |
| |
currents, tides and vessel movement. (Capability plots and footprint plot) |
| 5. |
Practice the setting up and monitoring of DP Systems. |

acquiring
the Kongsberg
K-pos DP 21
training system
that will
be, a real
dual redundant
DP system
designed for
all DP applications
with full
range of functionality.
with the addition
of this, our
state of the
art training
centre will
be the only
one to have
both Alstom
& Kongsberg
training equipment
under one
roof.
After the
installation
of K-Pos system,
we will be
conducting
both the basic
and advance
courses simultaneously
every week.
The center
is also preparing
to introduce
the ETO and
Engineers
maintenance
courses at
the earliest. |

| The Curriculum:
|
| This
course will be based on teaching imparted
on a redundant DP system. The curriculum
will be based on participants adopting
different roles and train on planning
and varied simulation exercises including
VHF communication and Bridge control.
The curriculum will
provide insights into the practical
aspects of DP Operation by practical
training involving the following:
- Case study on accidents
and incidents on DP vessels
- Charting and plotting for
model use in operations.
- Prepare model assignments
on DP projects including contingency
operations.
- Prepare model assignments
on DP projects including contingency
operations.
- Participate in stimulated
DP operations.
